First off, I'd like to thank all the members who patiently answered my questions, and helped me along the way. It's been a long time since I've put together a gun, and everyone here was very helpful.
The 1st picture is the overall shot.
The next picture is of the toeplate. I'd never done one before, so it was a bit of a challenge for me...not so much the actual work, just figgering out how to lay it out.
The last picture is of the lock. It came to me a bright silver (no, I forgot to take a "Before" picture). I did not take apart the entire lock, just took out the spring. Oiled the heck out of all the moving parts, gently heated it, then browned it. I think it turned out OK, and it even works smoothly after the browning process.
I probably won't sight it in until Spring, unless we get a warm Winter weekend.
My next project is another CVA. It's a Kentucky Rifle (with the dreaded 2 piece stock). I picked it up for $20.00. It was a re-finish job that was abandoned. I'm still undecided if I'm going to buy a replacement stock from Deer Creek, or buy a one piece stock from Pecatonica. Inletting a lock will be quite a challenge for me. You'll be hearing from me again soon after Christmas
Thanks again for all your help.
