I have a Cabelas .50 cal Percussion (looks exactly like the Lyman Deerstalker), and was wondering if it is possible to convert this to a flintlock?

Thanks

Anything is possible but is it practical? If it is made by Investarms then probably Lyman barrels and locks will fit so you just need one of each. You can probably buy a used rifle for about the same money but then of course you might be buying someone else's mistake and still need a new barrel for that one. :haha:

if it has a drum then it is fairly easy you just need a lock and a touchhole liner.if it has a snail type breech like most Hawken rifles then a new breech plug and a whole slew of work is neccesary and so ,MAYBE not really worth it,but that part is up to you,it could still be done. After it is done ,if it's done right you can switch them back and forth and this can be useful and /or neccesary if you want to use the same rifle in some primitive seasons and still want a percussion at other times.

My dad did this last summer with a CVA Bobcat. He wanted to be able to hunt in both PA muzzleloader seasons so he obtained a used CVA flintlock online somewhere, got a vent line from TOTW, and made it work. It does... but that lock looks so pathetically tiny next to the one on my Bess.
