Thought some of you might be interested in this pan charger made from a 50 cal BMG case.
Bought a TC charger and cut it up for the components to solder into the BMG case.
My friend Pat Reed makes these and tried to buy one from him but he had sold all his so had to make my own.

Sectioned TC charger.

components in place and checked for fit.
Charger front will slip fit into neck of sized BMG case.
Primer pocked needs the pocket stake marks reamed out so the turned lanyard will fit the primer pocket.

Components solder in place, case polished and charger ready for use.
This charger will hold about three times more than the TC will. MD

I like your wood charger but except for the originals every component of muzzle loading now is made of and by modern equipment and material.Just fakes looking old!
The 50 BMG brass was made in 1942 during WWII, probably older than your wood or lathe it was turned on.Looks can be deceiving  MD

I guess it's going to come down to when the tree was planted. Hey, did anybody count the rings when it was cut down?

You both do nice work.

Enjoy, J.D.

I think both the .50cal shell version and the tapered wooden version are unique forms of pan primers, appear well made, and certainly appear that they'd be very functional...wouldn't hesitate to use either of them...good job both.
I also use similar, unique pan primers and they've worked just fine for years.

Thanks. I was trying to make a funny. Flopped.
I probably should have inserted "IMHO" before the word "sinful". Oh, well. :surrender:

Very cool idea. What else are you gonna do with a spent case? It's too big and too thin to make a thimble out of.
