Ladies and Gentlemen,
I found a company called Cooperstown trading and they have a reasonably prices rifleman's frock and a full outfit for women. I know very little about women's clothing, especially from the colonial period. However, I have a wife and daughter. Our focus is 1840-65, but our 13 yr old son is getting into the 1770 period. So to support him (without breaking the bank) are the women's clothes package they sell accurate?
Also, is the rifleman's frock?

Thank you for your help,
David

Are you planning on going to rondys or reenactments? Many rondys will accept "old timey" outfits that may or may not be historically accurate. Most reenactments/living history events are more particular & some can get pretty detailed. The only two women's items shown on the Cooperstown site that Mrs Coot thinks "might" work for a "correct" 18th c impression are the pockets and the "modesty piece". The skirt is not full enough & should have pleats with tape ties, not a drawstring. Bodices are not correct at all. The chemise & pinner apron are out of place. I strongly suggest that you get a copy of Beth Gilgun's book "Tidings from the18th Century," which covers mens and womens clothing with patterns and construction details. Buy linen fabric rather than cotton (Burnley and Trowbridge or Wm. Booth Draper are good sources), & make much better & mostly correct outfits. Some very good looking items can be machine sewn. A very basic womens outfit would be a shift (3/4 sleeves, no lace) stockings, a petticoat (2nd skirt), skirt, neck handkerchief (about a square yard of white linen folded in half diagonally), bedgown (not sleepware, but a loose jacket), linen apron w/o pinner above waist, & white linen cap. A little extra time & effort up front will get you into a wider range of events and save having to replace incorrect items bought in haste.

THANK YOU! You saved me money. This isn't my era, and I am pretty ignorant of clothing from that time- especially women's clothing.
