I have looked at Cabela's for most of my stuff since it's only about 7 miles from me. Some of their prices are a little high, but on some stuff I have no idea if it's high or not.
They have some flints that are the size for muskets, but they are 2 for $13.00. They have some round balls too, $10.99 for 20.
Are these prices about right?
They don't have a jag for that caliber, so I guess I will have to order it. The ramrod has a ball starter end in it, but I don't have anything else, like a bore brush. Is there anything else that might work, like a shotgun brush? If so, what size?

Cabela's is a good place to shop for some stuff, unfortunately, traditional muzzleloader supplies is not one of them. Mail order from Track of the Wolf or Dixie Gun Works, just to name two, will do you far better. For instance, flints should run you no more than a $1 ea., the best swagged round balls should be no more than .12 cents ea. in .490 cal. I don't even want to think what they want for Goex if they even have it.

What I need is all .69 caliber.
I read that price on flints, but this takes big 'uns.
BTW, those flints are knapped and lited as "Rightnour Quality English Flints".

I just got my order from the (possible shop) that was advertise here and they are FAST and reasonable, I will look to them again, they are compareable to MIDWAY., but they just sell muzzee stuff!

Track Of The Wolf for Flints (Tom Fuller) or Rich Pierce in Mo. both are fast and good and as affordable as it gets (although if they were 2x the cost of others I'd still prob get them (my $.02).

For good inexpensive flints check with Rich Pierce here on the forum. He knapps flints out of some type of chert found here in the States. Ceck here: http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showuser.php?uid/1953/ You should get a rd ball mould and cast your own balls because buying them for that size is expensive. You could use a .16 ga or even a .12 brush with a patch on it for cleaning.

I saw that the Tom Fuller flints at TOTW are much more affordable. I also found a really bad review on the ones that Cabela's sells, so I guess it's order time.

Those prices are way high.

Go to Track of the Wolf for Tom Fuller flints - should be under $2 even in musket size & buying one at a time (wish that they sold bags of 100 3/4" flints instead of 250 flints to get discount price). Track also has an excellent range of jags, scrapers, etc.

Try Eddie May for round balls. My last batch of .600 cost $11 per 100. There is a whole thread on the subject of round balls.

Good shooting! :)

PS - when I first saw the title of your topic, I thought Mrs Coot was looking for some blackmail info!

I just got some tom fuller flints for my 62 from track, buck and small change each.they also have all the rod ends one might need.
I would suggest a lee mold if they make one for your .69 and melt down some wheel weight...no rifling to engage and it will be blanket wrapped anyways, save your soft lead for your rifles!

Pepperbelly, You can go to TOTW, go to "Ammunition, Ammunition & supplies, by caliber, flint"
http://www.trackofthewolf.com...s/partList.aspx?catID=2&subID=188&styleID=917

and you'll see a good source of everything you might need.
