I get mine at JoAnnes fabric store. they have different widths, and weights.
 
You might want to check for jute or linen as well. My bag and horn have a jute ribbon. Basically upholstry ribbon.

My votes go to linen or hemp if you must use vegetable fiber. Cotton webbing from JoAnns just looks like cheap cotton webbing from JoAnns while jute doesn't hold up well with hard use (not for me). Leather is another perfectly appropriate material for straps and is probably the most durable of them all.
 
I always die my webbing and after a year of deer hunting it looks pretty good
 
Hemp webbbing is stronger, more historically accurate and available at any furniture repair shop or on line. :hmm:
