I haven't, but I would assume since the cotton is finer it would be more likely to burn which is a concern in dry areas.
 
I would buy a little piece and light it to see how it burns. A lot of batting has a fair amount of artificial fiber in it, even when it says 100% cotton.You don’t want that in your gun.
I’ve shot big cotton ‘face pads’ for woman’s make up. Soaked in lard. This makes it harder for them to catch fire.
You can find all sorts of stuff to stuff down your gun and it will work and put a tree rat in your soup. But last few years I’ve been shooting 2”x1” rubbed brown paper and it is cheep, easy and HC
