Yes, I use that, or similar material. It mic'd about .022 for me. I use a wooden mallet and short starter, then it goes down the barrel easy enough. It gives me the best accuracy. It can be a little harder to load in the field, so for backup shots, I carry the pillow tick .018, and can load it without the mallet. I'm giving up a little accuracy, with the thinner patch, but it allows for faster reloading, if necessary.
The thing about mic'ing cloth, is that I might get an entirely different reading, depending on the compression. But regardless of the actual thickness, if the accuracy is good, just try to find the same material, or you'll have to start testing loads, all over. I tighten the cloth down against the anvil, but still allow the cloth to be pulled through. I am a machinist, by trade, and have developed a feel, but cloth is not a material, where you can expect a consistent measurement.
