Could this be the best Round Ball Patch lube?

I’m with you. It is simple and worth a try. I may try and squirt it on a patch in a bowl or dish since they say it is slick. Can you tell us the name of youtuber’s channel? Thanks for sharing.
“Everything Black Powder”. Great channel; plus his sign-off is awesome!

Well I can shoot all day with spit (but it's not fun 🙃 ), I can shoot all day with 2/8 Dawn and water, I can shoot all day with hoppes BP solvent, and Probably some others I forgot.

But, I don't see the obsession with shooting without wiping. I pretty much wipe after every shot. But, I'm first a hunter and that's what makes sense to me in the field.

Not knocking any other shooters or methods, just my way.

Jake can't shoot his SMR all day with spit, in fact he wipes every third shot and has since he figured out a long time ago that's what worked best for him for that rifle...using spit. I like the Hoppe's 9+ better than most anything I've tried except it injures the skin of my hands and takes several days to recover, and on a hot day the patch dries out so fast it's almost gone by the time I get the ball seated. Side effect of that is it doesn't ruin any powder, not that I care if it wets a few grains.

I have always thought there are two things people do in muzzloading that are categorically stupid but can be easily avoided: Wiping after every shot, and trying to dissolve potassium salt with water after mixing it with grease.

The patch lube can be to slippery. I used to use murphy's oil soap. It was also super slick, like Dawn. It was fumbly to work with. It did not give my best accuracy. I suspect the super slick patches caused velocity variations.

I get my best accuracy with a 5:1 Ballistol and water dried patch, or moose milk damp patch. I have no interest in shooting all day with out cleaning, if the accuracy is sub optimal.

My club actually requires swabbing between shots, "for safety reasons". I say BS, but that is a rule I agreed to. That is the second reason I don't care about shooting all day without cleaning.

The short answer is each individual has to experiment with his gun and see what works best for him and how he shoots.

I tried it yesterday. I did not think it was great. My gun was a lot dirtier than his.

That mix is probably a pretty good patch lubricant. There's an awful lot of very good patch lubricants out there. So it may be a mix of 50/50 or 40/60 or 45/55 or something else entirely. The name brand of the dish washing soap isn't real important as the property to dissolve grease and oils is more important. Dawn, Palmolive, Generic Store Brands or the Dollar Store brand won't make much difference. I have found my mix of 1 part water soluble oil to 7 parts of water to be a very good patch lubricant. If you want a slicker lube, add more water soluble oil. Less slick, then use the dried patch lubricant version. Of course, then you have to swab the bore between shots to control fouling.
