This is my version of a 1800 butch blade, forged from a mill file,handle is walnut with 1/4 brass pins pinned over.

The next one is a small bowie forges from a file,steel guard antler handle.

Thanks guys for the nice words. These two took my half the summer.I burned up a couple of knifes and some files was not paying watching them.

How did you do the heat treating and hardening?

I heat the blade up in a deep pile of charcoal coals tell in none mag. then i edge quached them in goop, conail oil parfen wax.then i sticked them in sand to cool off all the way sand and clena them to get the oil and sand off. then in the oven at 350 for an hour at a time tell it gets straw color.the top one has a ghost temper line when u look in the right light. thanks agion for the nice words
 
The boxie is a hal tang. it a tight fitt with the tang and antle i had to use a hammer to drive it rest the way on , there epoxy on the inside, thanks for the nice words agio
