It's been well over a year since I made a new horn (I had to get my lehigh rifle done  ) So I the last few weeks I got the bug again.

First is one I did from a free range horn. It's was pretty thin already and is kind of flaky on the base end, and not thick enough for much carving on the throat. It was colored with AF, plug and base are both pine; held on with iron pins. I built it as a simple hunter's horn, possibly based out of Ft Pitt. It's about 13 inches along curve.

The second one is for an office Christmas party we have coming up. The items brought in will be "auctioned" off for a good cause. So I decided to donate a horn for this.

It was quite a bit thicker and I could do some decent carving on the throat. Dyed with Rit berries. Base is pine and plug is cedar I think. :hmm: Engraved with my unit's name, the maker (me), the unit crest, the liberty tree, and a depiction of the battle of Stoney Pt (of the back of the Engineer Regiment's DeFlurry medal). It's a bit over 14 inches along curve.
I like this one; I think it turned out well. Still working on my engraving though. :shake:

Thanks for looking, and suggestions for improvement are always welcome. :v

WOW! that's a beauty, that'd be hard to give away.
On another note, we had our annual Turkey shoot last weekend at your old stomping ground, Saul's meadow, you otta come join us sometime or at the Fremont Rondy, the weekend after Mother's day.

Thanks all!

Deadeye, I haven't been there in years. The first time I ever shot my dad's ML was in Saul's meadow. Lots of memories down there.

I definately need to make it down to the Fremont doins. I should be able to make it happen this year.. Oh wait, I think I have to go to Cambodia during that part of May. Dang!

Thanks, Gents. :v

I've got another of those 'free range' horns that I'm going to work on this weekend. It's also pretty thin so it should be interesting. There isn't much room at the tips for carving on them.
