Coverting,,,,,,,, ? On flash hole

If I replace my Large siler perc. With Large siler flint.from what I'm looking at that will put the flash hole liner .340 in front of the breech plug face. Unless I drill the liner hole farther back or just drill flash hole.
Ok if I plug hole where drum was with bolt and JB on threads is it ok to drill for liner where my pic. Indicates? I could cut the distance from liner hole to less than half the distance of the .340. It's 36 cal

I usually when I build a flint get the flash hole .125 in fron t of breech plug face

first get the flint lock and install it to see where the vent needs to be. work from there.

That is a fusil dechase. I love that wood. I don't know how I get so many diff colors in my stocks. Some are reddish ,,some medium brown and some light brown.

That's all I can do cause the lock will have to go back right where it's at now.
I would be better off to build a flint. I don't want a weird looking set up plus not fire fast.

Screw in a flash hole liner and see how the pan lines up. I converted a Hatfield a couple years ago by replacing the drum with a liner and everything lined up perfect.

Where did you get a liner with threads big as a drum has

Track Of The Wolf most likely, the lock was L&R replacement for the Hatfield so that may have made it easier.

Put the liner in, and test fire it first.

White lightning makes a 3/8x32.
I doubt the drum is any bigger than that.

If you have a drum and nipple set up then get a liner the same size as the threads on the drum. if your replacing a siler with a siler the pan should line up with the insert.

Personally, I would just build a new gun in flint. Sometimes it's good to pop a cap.

That's where my mind is going. And I really enjoy building. I've learned so much.Alot by trial and error.

If it works as a percussion with the drum where it is now then it will work just as good (or bad) with a touchhole in the same location even if you are loosing sleep over it.
