The earliest english colonists were faced with many complications, one of which was understanding the new continent they had begun to colonize, its like moving into a house without knowing anything about it, nothing about how old things are, electricity plumbing etc.

In short, they had very little knowledge of the weather conditions, hunting, native tribes and they also had very little knowledge of the time it would take to send and receive supplies from england.

My opinion; they likely began to starve, and other things likely happened such as crimes, disease canabalized, theft and vandalism, Native American raids etc. it’s likely that the worst kind of chaos erupted . This did occur in Jamestown, and other french colonies in the north as well as failed colonial settlements in block island.

Many likely abounded the settlement seeking help from natives, most likely perished. The written word Croatoan is just theorized to be the name given to the island, or called the town hall or meeting place, as there were Indian tribes and other islands that shared similar names.

A lot of people don’t realize that it took a very long time for colonization to become successful in North America, it was really the equivalent to space travel back then.
