Gorgeous day to take the Crocket to the range. I started at 15 yards to make sure I was on paper. Grouped nice with 10 grains of Schutezen FFF and a .015 Ticking Patch.
Moved the target to 25 and everything went bad from there. I couldn't get anything better than a 4 inch group from the rest. All groups were 5 inches high at 25.
I played with .010 patches, .15 PT and .15 Teflon. The Teflon patches all tore when I tried to put the bullets in.
I next played with powder charges from 10 grains, 8 grains, 12 grains and finally 15 grains.
Best group was with 15 grains of Schutzen, a .015 PT patch with a dried lube on it. Finally grouped into 1 1/2 inches at 25 but still high.
Since there were so many vendors at the Winter Nationals I went over and bought a replacement front and rear sight so I wouldn't have to destroy the originals. Now I'll put them on and sight in over the weekend.
What a fun gun to shoot. Glad you guys all talked about it.
