...since the concept is so good.

Yeah. What's not to like about the idea behind it. Seems to be a lot of variation out there. But even with a "bad" one, I am still willing to dink around with it because it's such a fun little gun.

I have a Crockett that I got in trade about a month ago. I am very happy with it. Enjoyed it immensely even though I have only taken it out once shooting. Shooting a pop can at 50yds right from the get-go. Shot about a dozen or so times with no problems. 20gr 3F, .010 patches and a home cast .311 rb.

The one that Cabela's had would require more than a "dink" or two. And judging from the picture of yours, I suspect you are a little particular. But no matter, it was gone so someone must have bought it.
I wonder if there might be more than one place that makes them? :hmm:

Mine is on the big brown truck as I am typing this to be delivered today .
The previous owner said that he was able to shoot quarter size groups of three or four shots and then a flyer four inches away . I will be talking to him to find out what he used for his loads.I know this small caliber is needs consistency when loading.

Wayne,
Where did you get your Crockett bored out to 40 cal? Was it expensive?
I have one I would like to get bored out but I have no idea who to contact.
Thanks
JSB

It should be capable of quarter size 5 shot groups at 50 yards. Depending on the shooter, they can do even better than that.

Sounds good Hanshi.

I got it and other than a few handling marks it is real nice.I don't expect it to be equal to a $1300.00 rifle. Especially since I only paid $225 and it came with a Lee .311 double cavity mold, jag, ball puller, patch puller and plenty of pillow ticking.

Here are a few pictures.

I have one and I like it a lot. Fit and finish are excellent, better than I expected for the price. Mine is very accurate, probably more accurate than I am. I use 20 grains of 3F, and it makes less noise than a .22.....Robin

Mine is great. Only issue I have is that the set trigger is WAYYYYYYY too sensitive. No matter how I adjust the set triggers, all I have to do is think about firing and off it goes. For me it is too light. I bought the rifle used with no manual, so I'm a bit in the dark about the adjustments. Any ideas or recommendations?

With a double set trigger there are no adjustments that can be made to increase the weight required to fire the gun.

The screw between the triggers adjusts the engagement between the front (release) trigger and the rear (set) trigger.
Turning it clockwise (in) decreases the engagement so just moving the front trigger a tiny bit will release the rear.
Turning it counterclockwise (out) increases the engagement so the front trigger has to move further before the rear trigger is released.

None of this will increase or decrease the actual force required to move the front trigger.
