Green Mtn. makes a 36" 15/16 54 caliber rifled barrel. Is there anybody who would put a breech plug, under lug and sights on one of these barrels to fit a TC Hawken stock? Would it cost as much as a new .54 cal. TC gun? Does anybody have a barrel like this?

Input and answers would be appreciated.

Unless they're out of stock, I think GM already makes a dropin .54cal x 15/16" barrel for the TC Hawken...with the breechplug it's 33"...I have the .54cal Flint smoothbore version my self.

Roundball,

Don't quote me on this but I read somewhere about Green Mountain dropping production of the "drop in" barrels for TC guns. When they were sold out stock they are gone for good.

I called and discussed with Keri when I heard that rumor months ago...she said no...they were just having a clearance sale on all the slow moving stuff like the fast twist barrels, stainless barrels, .54cal Flint smoothbores, .62cal smoothbores, etc...can't imagine what would be gained by telling me that so I guess I believe her...in fact, they just added a new 38" x 15/16" round ball Hawken barrel last year...

I wonder if that GM 38 inch 15/16 barrel would be to heavy in 40 cal for target shooting?

When I decided to get a .40cal GM Flint barrel I struggled with that and finally opted for the 33" version...glad I did...that's a tiny bore and a 39" would have been way too heavy for me to do extended shooting (and I'm 6'4"/220).
I've thought several times it seemed odd that it's offered in that small caliber...seems like a .50 or .54 would be a much better match for that length & weight.
