Hi everyone I just bought my first muzzleloader, a used CVA 32 cal squirrel gun.The rifle is in good shape and I'm really dying to try it out,but I can't find any load data for it.Would anyone be able to help me out? I figured I "d start with patched balls.
Thanks
Frank

As one reference, the Thompson Center owner's manual lists the following for the .32cal patched round balls:

.315 diameter / 47grn round ball
NL1000 pre-lubed patches
30grns FFFg - 1714 fps
40grns FFFg - 1929 fps
50grns FFFg - 2055 fps

I had one of them a while back. It seems it did good with a Buffalo Bullet Company .310 rd ball. pillow ticking patch, and 25-30 grs of Pyrodex P. and a #11 CCI magnum cap.

I got a CVA Squirrel hunter because I got tired of lugging my .32 Tenn poor boy while hunting. put a sling on it, as my favorite hunting ground required some tough climbing to get to the ridge top. The first time out with the gun, loaded with the same patch/ball combo as the Tenn poor boy, I found that I'd lost both the ball and the powder charge...the gun was slung muzzle down for the climb....my point is that not all .32's have the same bore diameter...play around with patch and ball size...and ,yeah, it wasn't too smart to load the gun (no cap) before the climb in any event....Hank
