I was at my local gunstore yesterday and they had a CVA halfstock flinter in .50 cal. the gun was in really good shape except the horrible home browning they did. Looks like it may have been a kit. the lock as usual was pure rubbish. they wanted 150...was thinking i might try to talk them down. I am looking for feedback....whos shot them/ owns one...how do they shoot?

You can get a good RPL replacement lock and have a fairly nice gun for your investment. :idunno:

I have a cva mountain rifle in Flint lock and one in cap the only thing that I have done is to drill out the vent hole with a1/16bit and now it's shooting great

My mentor had one....went off about 30% of the time. OLD model from 70's.

I called on L&R for a project (CVA plainsman) and its $186.00 shipped. So that's $336.00 for a used flinter that should be quite reliable. I'm just thinking on selling the gun as is and putting the sale and the savings towards a newer (used) custom type, likely to get the lock though :hmm:
