Hello everyone, I'm new here from very near the site of the "Battle of Frenchtown" so thank you for having me. I just came into possession of a .50 cal. CVA St. Louis Hawken rifle. I believe that it is from very early production as it has only a six digit serial no. (024XXX all numeric), made in Spain. I haven't done anything with it yet as I'm not familiar with cap locks. Before disassembling, cleaning or buying any accessories I would like to have an owner's manual. However, I am unable to find one. If any of you can direct me to a link or have a digital copy that you would like to share I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks, but I suppose that I should have mentioned that I found that one. That seems to be generic for all their sidelocks. And, I have already contacted CVA with no luck. I was looking for something more specific with part list and disassembly and reassembly instructions.

CVA had allot of different MLs and allot of them had just minor changes but a new name each time. I don't have any manuals except generic ones from them. Like stated, they are pretty much straight forward and mostly the same basically. Congrats on your new gun, I hope you enjoy it.

Well then @DAVIEB1, you probably need to be looking for a mentor. Let us know where you are located. Members of a traditional muzzle loading gun club can be pretty accepting and quite helpful. As the others have stated, there is little difference between different versions of similar rifles. CVA double set triggers will be similar. You do have to make sure that locks have flies in the tumbler for the double set triggers.

Deer Creek will have parts, manuals and other accessories that will be specific to your rifle. Contact them if you need parts.

Here is a parts list for your Hawken rifle.

Its not really all that difficult to learn how to properly take care of your rifle.
