Probably better, those old barrels have a slow twist, 1-60 I think, compared to the new ones with 1-48I'm expecting accuracy comparable to my Traditions Kentucky.50.
The stock somewhat looks like its made of gun wood.Well when I take it apart I'll change the front sight.
He used a gel stain, don't want to have to sand it a great deal as it all fits together very nicely. Any suggestions? I was thinking of one of the citrus strippers.??
I hate that rifle!!!!!!!!!!! A good friend (another Larry) used to kick my butt in the 80s with that stupid thing!Plan is to remove all hard wear, polish, remove barrel and refinish then refinish the stock.
Leave it be, a nicely used rifle looks much better than a new looking one that lives in a safe. This way too you will not be afraid to use the heck out of it. Nice deal.Well when I take it apart I'll change the front sight.

It must be a replacement, it's in there but counter sunk deep. almost too deep to be much good.It looks to be not there at all.
I agree 100%. Leave it alone and shoot the heck out of it. The 1/66 barrel just might shock you.Leave it be, a nicely used rifle looks much better than a new looking one that lives in a safe. This way too you will not be afraid to use the heck out of it. Nice deal.
