I am trying to upgrade my sights on the mountain rifle I’m working on. I have a rear sight in the works I think, not sure if it will fit, but I need a good front sight. I want to fill the rear dovetail and install a rear peep or tang sight to shoot out to about 200 yards. So if anyone has any leads for a front sight, dovetail filler, and possible rear sight for my rifle please let me know!

This is why I don’t think the rear peep sight I am looking at will work... the tang is very short and rounds out fast...

The tang roughly stops at the red arrow and only has 1 hole in it...

Have you considered mounting a long base tang sight secured at the front in that single tang hole and the rear into the top of the wrist of the stock with a wood screw ?

I am open to whatever option will work lol. I don’t mind using one mounted to the tang and one in the wood. I just want it to look intentional and still functional.

I’m having my gunsmith fabricate a base to attach a Redfield peep sight to just like this. Globe front sight. Not traditional but fairly oops proof compared to Vernier sights and easier to adjust on the fly than post types, plus I can still have my thumb over the neck of the stock where it wants to be.
