Was looking at a Mountain Rifle and trying to guesstimate when it might have been made. It's a Spanish barrel with a s/n 86-XXXXXXX. I thought I remembered reading here that maybe that first number indicated year. Don't really want one of the later 1:48 or 1:32 that they ended the series with. I think the mid-80's were still 1:66.

That sound about right?

I have 6 CVA kit guns built in the late 70's/early 80's. including a Mountain Rifle. All have Spanish parts. None of the serial numbers have a prefix of any sort; they are all numbers and are either 6 or 7 digits long. The serial number on the Mountain Rifle is 6 digits, the first of which is a zero.

Is there any letters in front of the serial number on that rifle? That may help with the dating the year the rifle was made.
