Set trigger way too light, even when set at its heaviest. It is a CVA mountain rifle from 1970's I believe. Admittedly the triggers are not the best. Can I make them heavier so I can use them set.

Jeff,

Without seeing the triggers, I would guess yes. How? Replace the spring with one that has more tension release energy. (heavier)
One other item I would be a lookin at is why? Is your lock sear and tumbler geometry adiquate, and smooth, such that it is working without extra drag etc.

I have a CVA stripped down to restock.
So went out and took a look at the Trigger to see if there was a way to adjust it.
There are only two screws, 1 adjusts the rebound on the spring and the other I'm not sure about what it's doing(nothing that I could tell) had it all the way out and all the way in. It did not seem to effect sear engagement?
Seemed to make no difference?
Sorry can't help much. I have shot some centerfire Benchrest in the past with 2 oz triggers. The featherlight trigger is one of the reasons I liked the CVA so much.

This is the trigger spring out of a one version of the CVA triggers. It works ok when it works, but is far from optimum. It is all that holds the front trigger back when you set the back trigger. The middle screw adjusts the amount of engagement between the front and rear triggers. That is supposed to make it heavier, but it doesn't. It just makes it have to move farther before the back trigger blade is released. The rear screw adjusts the spring load on the back set trigger, or how hard it springs up when released. There really is no way to adjust the front trigger weight unless you use a heavier wire and make a new trigger spring.
