Well, I've been around this list for several months now, and I don't recall seeing anything about the dangers of flints.
I mean accidentally cutting your self/hand on one of them sharp chucks o rock.
How about it? Any horror... I mean cautionary tales from 'round the campfire?

Ha, if I've cut myself once I've cut myself 25 times while wiping the pan or fiddlin' with the lock. A good sharp flint can lay you open like a surgeons scalpel! As a matter of fact they are use in open heart surgery and plastic surgery they leave hardly no scar.

I get all my flints from Bob Walden my mentor and gunstocker or gunsmith if you will. He also knaps a lot of blades and projectile points. I'm going to try a take a deer with his flint tips launched from my longbow this fall!

He cuts himself every time he knaps for more than 10 minutes he keeps the Band-Aid company in business!

it wasn't till I switched from percussion to flint that I started carrying a bandaid in my wallet....Hank

Lawerence Welk was a "bandaid" wasn't he? (anna one, anna two....)Yessiree, iffn ya use a sharp flint, eventually yer gonna an "ouchie" or two.

...and if you had any doubts about the "salts" leftover in BP residue after cutting yourself with a sharp flint, you will learn that lesson immediately after cutting yourself ::

When I was learning to knapp flint, (I remember it all to well) 7 of my 10 fingers are scared from flint...

Once when starting a fire with flint and steel, I missed the flint with the striker, but my knuckles didn't... :shocking:

Laid them open to the bone...

Oddly enough, it was a clean cut, went back together real nice...
