My daughter's rifle is coming along nicely. I thought everyone would like a look pre-wire, carving and engraving.

Need to give her something other than those nasty baby dolls the wife keeps pushing on her..... :shake:

I don't know, but I think it is generally a good idea to wait until the child is tall enough to pull the ramrod completely out of the thimbles before giving them their own rifle, unless of course you are building her a matching step stool to go with it. :rotf: :rotf:

I'll tell you what - I'll give you $39.73 for the rifle as is, (plus shipping of course) and you can build her a nice little pistol that's more her size. Then, when you teach her to shoot it, I suggest you take all the Barbies in the house and line them up on the fence posts for targets.

Let me know where to send the check.

PS - she is one lucky little girl.

What a sweet-heart! I just want to give her a big ol' hug!

(what rifle pictures??) :rotf:

Seriously, the rifle looks great. Can you give us details? Caliber? Type of wood?

I like that patchbox, with a hinge on the bottom. Don't think I've seen one like that.

Shoo,
It's an A. Verner (Bucks County) inspired rifle and that patch-box is customary for that area. It's 32 cal Rayl barrel with a curly maple stock. The design is traced off an original. The lock is all wrong, it's a Hollenbaugh "Ditchburn". I can't stand wire in the wrist of a gun so I'm probably not going to put it in.... so there's another blemish. Oh well, what are you going to do.... she'll probably grow up to admire Versace more than Verner and Armani more than Armstrong..... :shake:

Great job

I love those slim lines. It's going to be beautiful when finished.
