I'm going to try my best to be there. My brother has the Friday before off (he lives in Athens, Al.) so I reckon I'll make the road trip. I went last year an shot the woods walk for the first time. I'll do it this year with my .40 Cal. SMR that Kaintuck built for me. Probably pick up some odds an ends from the vendors. 10 days to go!.

My daughter and I visited yesterday, and had a really good time. She was bummed that only competitors could throw tomahawks though :(. She wants to go back next year and camp -- looks like I've got some work to do before next August! We picked up a tomahawk, knife, a few necklaces for the girl, and a wee tiny powder horn that was too cute to leave behind. Now to save pennies for a rifle and tent, and make some clothes...

I wish I would have been able to make it, but the health issue's I have right now have stopped me from making long drives. Maybe next year. I would have liked to find a powder (priming) horn also.

If it makes you feel any better James I don't remember seeing any priming horns. The camp was smaller this year than last I guess the rain may have kept a few away. I know one thing for sure it was humid I didn't make the woods walk got there to late did shoot the novelty shoot but didn't shoot a good round. But I got more excuses than Carter has liver pills lol :shake:

Even though the crowd was down the Davy Crockett club sure put on one of their best rondy's. The demos were nice for the crowd, the program was really nice, the sponsors provided some of the best prizes they had in years. I didnt find one thing to complain about, even though they have made it easy in years past. Now the black powder gods must have had pity on me and helped me hold steady and not flinch too bad so I was able to win the novelty event and the over all grand agg. I have gotten close a few times but always sabotaged myself somehow. I left with a winter soft tanned bull elk robe about 27 sq ft and a very nice print of a Tennessee frontiersman.

Bring a crowd next year, I will be there for sure.

A couple of our club members were going to go. They had been in the past and were looking forward to it.

Congrats T.O. on the win. Sounds like there were some nice prizes awarded. There were several people there enjoying the events and it was a good shoot.
