I got a few muzzleloaders from an estate, the price was right and it was a package deal. I’m not sure I’ll keep all of them but I’m going over each one and shooting each one and getting to know them. With work and kids that will take a few weeks.
This shotgun is really neat and I’m hoping it shoots ok. It seems to be a gun made by a talented gunsmith who cut off an Ithaca barrel (looks like a 16 ga Ican’t find markings) and added breech plugs etc. there’s an old crack inthe wrist that has a pin repair I’m deducing from a small wooden plug/head. The locks seem tight and operate well. The left one is barely above the nipple at half cock. The right hammersits higher at half cock. The metal is in the white with some tiny sanding marks as if there was rust orbluing someone removed. I see only a tiny bit of rust in a couple nooks and crannies. The left barrel is choked more. Any info or thoughts?
