Up for sale is this decorative powder horn. Appears to be made from a carved block of wood that has then had the hardware from an antique powder horn installed. This has a chain attached for using as a wall-hanger, and that's exactly how it's been used for the last several years. The spout is broken and non-functional; does have markings on it that appear to say "POWDER HORN FOR INFANTRY 1810". There are no markings on the base plate but the metal and patina match the spout so I would assume they came off the same powder horn. $20 plus shipping in the US. If interested, send me a PM. Thanks

Is that possibly 1870? The 2nd "1" doesn't look as straight as the 1st, looks more like a stylized 7 from here.
It's possible, but it looks much more like "1" when I put it under a magnifying glass. I'm certainly no expert on such markings, but it looks much more like "1810" than "1870". The second "1" does look much fainter and I think that contributes to the problem in exactly identifying it.
