newbie here though some of you may recognize me from other places.got a new lyman deerstalker .50 cal and wondering what kinda loads everyone is using.

I can't speak for .50 caliber but my .54 caliber Deerstalker flintlock likes 90 grains of Goex 3f with a .530 ball and drill cloth patch lubed with beeswax/olive oil.

The fun is finding what your rifle likes. Good luck.

My 50 Deerstalker like 70 Grains of 3f and a 490 Round Ball patched with 018 ticking cut at the muzzle.

My .50cal Deerstalker likes 75g of Goex 3f with .018 pre lubed patches, .490 ball. I would start out with 60 grains and work up from there.

I'm a noob also, but this is what I worked up so far in my two weeks of shooting:

70 grains fo Pyrodex Select 2F, .490 patched round ball, and I'm not sure of the patch thickness (the package of patches just says for muzzleloaders .45 to .55 caliber). Lube is TC Natural Lube Bore Butter.

At 50 yards shooting from a rest with the factory sights and wiping the bore with a wet and dry patch after every shot, I've been able to get excellent consistency with the rifle.

The rifle is left-handed.

Hopes this helps
