We had to use isopropyl alcohol for our fondues over the holidays. Burns slower and not as hot. Not as good as cleaner also.
Just restocked the "Everclear"!

During my time as a photographer in the Royal Air Force, I spent some time working on a bulk film processing machine. To help the film dry, after washing it went through a 60:40 solution of meths/water. After an hour there was a funny taste in my mouth and after two hours, I had to be replaced by a sober operator. It was the only place to find drunken teetotallers.
We also used carbon tetrachloride to clean film with no apparent ill effects. It was also used in fire extinguishers. Those were the days.

We call it Methylated spirit down here. Just for a hoot one day I carefully washed out an empty Meths bottle, leaving the label on. Then I filled it with water and leaving the label very prominent on my bench I took regular swigs from it. Shoud'a seen the looks I was gettin.😂
:eek:😂:eek:😂:oops::oops:🤣
You best not be drinking Methylated Spirits...Methanol is poisonous. Ethanol is not. As a matter of fact, methanol (methylated Spirits) is poisonous enough that repeated use of it for hand sanitizer is enough to make you sick. Not all things labeled alcohol is the same.

I worked with a guy who sniffed carbon tetrachloride recreationally , he died from kidney failure .
