Just got home from the range where I was shooting a couple of my derringers across my chronigraph. This time out I took my Classic arms Twister and my Pedersoli screw barrel pistols and loaded them with 777. Performance was erratic but 777 gave better velocities than both Pyrodex P and Goex3f. The twister was loaded with 17 grains of 777 under a .350 ball in a .015 patch and a remington #11 cap.The highest velocities were 807 ft/sec and 680 ft/sec generating 94 and 64 ft/lbs of pressure respectivly. Not bad for such a little pop gun. I loaded the screw barrel with 10 grains of 777 under a .454 ball swagged into the barrel breech. Its top velocity was 540 ft/sec generating 91 ft/lbs of pressure. The other shots remained in the mid 400's for velocity generating around 60 ft/lbs of pressure. Though mouse guns by todays standards I can see why our forefathers carried them "just in case".

Don't forget that these little guns poked what would be called a ".38" caliber hole in the opponent.

That size hole can cause a lot of damage to someone.

Well...my Crosman .22 pellet gun shoots at 500 fps with a 8 grain pellet and it kills every rabbit I hit at 30 yds. And they say the pellet only generates 12 ftlb energy.
I wouldnt want to get hit with the twisters .350 ball going at 800 fps with 90 ftlbs energy....
..dunno if I would call the Twister a mouse gun.
I believe they will do what they were designed to to at close range....
I dont mean to flame anyone ....just stating my opinion on these close range derringers.

Thanks for posting those results; I do believe that is the first I have ever seen on velocities and loads for these guns. Interesting.
