Bare with me here if this has been discussed before, I am realatively new to this forum.
I have a DGW 50 cal, made by investarms, and the set trigger doesnt work properly. After pulling the set trigger and then the main trigger the flint does not make contact with the frizzen. Operating the main trigger by itself it works fine. I swapped my gpr lock and everything worked ok, so the problem is in the lock someplace. Can anyone help me with this one. Thanks

Well I really dont know what a fly is. I have looked at both locks when they have been pulled with the set trigger and without. The one that malfunctions the small arm (fly?) doesnt go all the way back like it does in the good lock. I could send this back to DGW but if it was something simple, and/or cheap to fix I would rather do it myself.

hammer draw "how far the hammer goes back to full cock " is many time different with each manufacture.
they fly will be a small tab that will/should come down as you pass the half cock position. not all locks have these but most if not all of the better ones do .

SO,, if i get the jest of what your saying is that when using the set trigger with the first lock she catches at the half cock.
the fly is dragging in the lock or is worn to the point it is not moving true anymore and as the sear comes down it doesn

ok I appreciate all the info and will check it all out. On the trigger, the triggers are ok as I put the lock in my other GPR and it malfunctions there. If I put the lock from the GPR that works in to the rifle in question, it works fine, thus eliminating a trigger problem.
Admittedly, my knowledge of the lock mechanism pales in comparison what you folks know about them. But Im a learnin!
Thanks again

only if the lock mechanic angles are the same , which may not be the case .
compair the two locks , is the sear angle the same at full cock ?

When you pull the main trigger by itself, that is, it is not set. Does the lock then work? If so, imagine what you are doing. You pull the trigger and the trigger remains pressed as the hammer falls. The hammer then bypasses the half cock notch. If you set the trigger and the flint doesn't hit the frizzen, then the cock/hammer is likely getting caught in the half cock notch. There is a reason for this. The set trigger flys up on its own to trip the hammer but then the sear spring immediately comes into play making it hit the half cock notch, there's no finger holding an actuated trigger back. The fly is designed to overcome this problem, soooo.... maybe the problem is that the fly isn't working.
Best bet, take the lock off and work it by hand, looking at the internal parts to see what's happening. Many times the fly is small and only covers a corner of the sear. If the sear is in crooked, etc, the fly might not be doing its job.

Check the screws that hold the inside plate over the tumbler. I had the same problem once and that was the cause.

Took a while for that one to come out of memory. Getting old is a pain, but it beats the alternative.
