There used to be a product, think it was called "Barkeeps Friend" that was used to remove water rings from flat, finished surfaces. Rub it in good, circles disappear. I always thought it must be very fine valve grinding compound.
Bar Keepers Friend is still available. Has feldspar, LINEAR SODIUM DODECYL BENZENE SULFONATE, and oxalic acid in it. Destructions say not to use on cast iron, granite, marble, wood, fabric, leather, painted surfaces, mirrors, gold, or silver (sterling silver is OK).
Do not use where rinsing thoroughly is difficult, or impossible. YMMV
