Good for him. I'll kick in a few bucks so he can replace the blood stained carpet. I hope Vermont is a Castle Doctrine state. I guess those turds looking for drug money didn't remember most of older guys aren't violent anymore, but haven't forgotten how to be.

I hope he lawyers up quick. Vermont isn’t a state that is for the people anymore. The police even executed a search warrant right away against the homeowner too. Obviously looking for anything incriminating they can use against him. Anyway good for him. I sure hope it was a large caliber ML with a big bullet too. A old filthy dirty mini ball with rancid grease lube would be best.

Don't search warrants have to specify just what they are searching for? It would be interesting to see what was specified on the warrant. I'm assuming that they are not a public record and therefore are not able to be viewed the Joe Citizen.

Am I correct in these assumptions?

I applaud the homeowner for defending his home.
I was distressed to read in the article that his home was being thoroughly searched. For what?!!? HE is not the criminal!
If Vermont is like Missouri, any shooting is expected to be….. DRUG RELATED! They are just looking for the bag of dope money…. But if the guy kept a muzzleloader for self defense- he might be a felon as well. So that might be the extra scrutiny.

Here's a little more detail:

Vermont Daily Chronicle

From the above story link:
"..., the man who was shot was 39-year-old Paul E. Brown of Milton and St. Albans, he was seriously injured...., later transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.”

No doubt. Take a hit from a muzzleloading rifle at close range, and that's to be expected....,

The phrase that comes to mind is, "one and done".
