Different barrel for GPR

I have a chance to buy another barrel for my GPR. My current 50 cal Lyman GPR barrel has been neglected in the past by the previous owner. I asked around at my local club and found a fellow who replaced his factory GPR barrel with a GM barrel. The barrel I am looking to purchase is only 3 yrs old. The fellow said it was a good barrel and he had no problems with it.. just wanted to shoot conicals or sabots... hence the differnt twist of the GM barrel. ( not really sure of the twist of the GPR barrel either..nor mine for that matter..lol)
SO.. that brings me to the price of the factory Lyman GPR barrel.. IF everything is good, and no rust is present in the bore.. is 50$ a good price?? thats what he is asking for it. I told him I'd take it, guessing that was cheap enough.

well a brand new barrel from mid south will cost you $220 plus shipping, so as long as the barrel you are looking at is in good condition i would say that is a dang good deal. The gpr comes with 2 barrel twists, the 1/32" twist is for conicals and is on the great plains "hunter". The standard great plains rifle comes with the 1/60" barrel for round balls.

Yup, jump on it if it's in good shape. If you're inclined you can also add a 54 cal barrel later if you run across one at a good price.

Great price, it is a 1:60 rate of twist IIRC, a great RB shooter.

AWSOME!.. I had actually thought of getting a 54 cal barrel..I will when the time is right.
