Long strange day. Had to open our club for a What? regional meeting at 8:00AM, then off on a two and a half hour Drive to the Va Hospital in Saginaw Mi. for my Agent Orange physical. On the way back I stopped at a gun shop in Bay City ( Duncan's) Some of you might know it. Anyway on the used shelf, among many, many of those inli-thingy's sat what was labled as a 12 gauge percussion kit shotgun. Well it had a fowler buttplate, was walnut halfstocked, with pewter nosecap, 30" octagon to round browned barrel with what looked like it might be a Traditions lock on it, and a $129 price tag. It gathered no more dust, I grabbed it and ran. Two and a half hours back to the club, to close up after this meeting. get there and they are having a raffle. So I buy two tickets, at $5.00 a piece. It's a triple elimination raffle, I let one ticket go, but buy back in my only ticket for five bucks more. There are seven prizes, the last two being an over and under 12 gauge, and a Winchester model 70 in 270 WSM. Mine is the 2nd from last drawn and I get the 270. $570 worth of rifle for $15, not bad. Then I finally get home and start checking out the fowler. Yeah, it's a kit, and not the best build ( I find a lot of brown filler, and the barrel looks funny) It's not a 12 guage, but a 20 guage, and mike's out at .609, but it was a real deal even for a 20, and I already got ball, and shot cards, and wads for 20 gauge, and won't have to buy another mold, and other parafinalia. All in all a very good day. Hope to post pic's by tomorrow, but first at the club tomorrow is the mandetory Elk seminar for those that drew one of the 100 tags for the hunt that starts Saturday. It should be interesting. :yakyak: :redthumb:

Sounds like a great day. That .609 is a bit tight for a .20 but you may do fine with a .575 ball and thick patch or possibly a .595 ball and thin patch. Are you sure it isn't a choked barrel? Congrats. on the day.

Bill for that kinda money I think you did good . I hope things work out well for ya and your shooting goes great with your new toy's :front:

my modified choke for the 20ga is .615 and the full is .610. if ur mic'n the muzzle i bet u have a full choke barrel.....
