You do realize that it is a cap N ball revolver
don't you??? Caps are incerted through the loading
gate....Just in case you didn't know.....no harm
ment.....

Yes, i know it is a cap and ball revolver.Do you have one? The reviews on the dixie site don't mention anything on performance.

I've heard they shoot well but are a pain to load. You have to remove the cylinder and use a special loading tool. You can't replace the cylinder with a cartridge cylinder without doing some gunsmithing work.

I have had both the Uberti and ASM (Armi San Marco) brands of this cap & ball clone of a Colt S A A.

As noted these really need the special loading tool which requires R & R cylinder for each loading.

The Uberti had a very nicely tuned and smooth action, very good fit and finish overall.

As far as shooting them... they are fun to shoot but slow to load. I got bored with them rather quickly and sold them.

You might search the internet auction & fixed price gun sites for a better deal or a used one. JMO Also, the Uberti's were available in three barrel lengths like the Colt's they copy.

A few years ago Cabelas closed out their Uberti's in this model for about $150 including the loading tool. They sold fast.

Good luck and have fun whatever you decide. :hatsoff:

Howdy Folks,
Mine is a Pietta. Yes, it takes a loading tool to load the cylinder and it is slow. The way around that is spare cylinders. Load them all up and go shoot.
It shoots as straight as I can shoot it. My old eyes don't see the sights so good anymore so I shoot just for fun.

I have a 3/8" cable with plastic bottles hanging on it that I call my "range", that is where I do almost all my shooting. The "tree rats" and deer are so tame that they come to see what all the noise is about.
