DIXIE GUN WORKS "TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN RIFLE" .50 NEW 56/5 inches long! This magnificent piece work started life as a very ordinary kit gun, that's before Gun stock Services got through with it... It now has a new Hickory ram-rod instead of the original pine dowel, tuned set trigger and action, crowned muzzle, browned barrel and a nicely stained stock. Just Beautiful!--$950

Those were pretty good rifles for the money but Dixie discontinued them a few years back. I think Dixie's last catalog price was about half what that add is asking. I had one of their early versions with the 7/8" barrel and it was a decent shooter. The later version with 15/16" barrel was pretty muzzle heavy. I also had one of the "squirrel rifle" versions with 13/16" .32 caliber barrel and it also was a good shooter, the locks and triggers are OK, not the worst and not the best but OK.

I've owned 3 of them. I currently own a .32 cal. I love 'em. I don't know about the one you are looking at. The fellow has done a lot of mods.

joe they are very few and far between here in oz,you would be lucky if there a dozen of them in oz.i shot one back in the early 1980s and you could ownly fire it with the trigger set you had to use the st trigger all the time.

Own a .50 I bought back in the late 70's. I love the straight-forward lines and the clean design. I too replaced the ramrod and added an iron banana patch box that I let naturally brown. I love the way the box enhances the line of the stock.
Mine has a very fast lock -- can't tell much of a difference between it and my percussion guns.
It is my favorite rifle and has done me well in making meat.

I have one in .50 flint and think it is one of the best production muzzleloaders ever made. It is definitely one I would like to see come back, I'd love to have one in .32.

Dixie Gunworks still offers the Tennessee rifle in .50 caliber Flintlock for about $580 but it is a kit and it is in Left Hand Only.

They also offer a Percussion conversion kit for it.

Those are Australian dollars. That works out to $790.55 US. Shipping to the US would definately be a bear.
