HAS ANYONE EVER WENT TO THE DIXON GUNMAKERS FAIR IN PA. I THINK IT IS HELD THE LAST WEEKEND IN JULY?

Hey Lonewolf,

Sorry for picking up your post so late. I've been 3 times to the Dixon Gunmakers fair. Can't recommend it enough. First, there are great guns and accoutrements up for judging that are on display. Second, there are a number of custom gunmakers there displaying their works and availing themselves to questions from the novice builder. Third, there are hornbulders, knife makers, bag makers, kit suppliers, barrel makers, blacksmiths, etc all there selling their stuff. Fourth, seminars are offered all day on both days. You can sit in on topics like lock tuning, engraving, relief carving, bag making, etc. Fifth, until last year it was free and now it's only 2 bucks/car to park. Finally, there's nothing like chowing down on a warm, fresh funnel cake in PA Dutch country.

I concur with your assessment, having visited it several times in the past myself. It always seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

The Dixon's themselves are nice people and, if you show up there at some time other than during the show when things get hectic, they are always ready to answer questions about gun-building and give advice.

The next time I go though, I'll rent a room in a motel nearby instead of commuting.
