OK looked all over the place, even went to their website and the forum archives. :hmm:
I'm wanting to know if you can take a lodge and camp 18th century style at Dixons for the fair? Throw a blanket out? It looks like theres a lodge or two set up on their website.I've never been there but want to go REAL BAD! Last year they sent me a list of campgrounds in the area but I don't want to leave my camp unattended at one of those places.

There is no visitor camping or blanket sales at Dixon's Fair. The tents you see there are of the approved exhibitors and tradesmen. The main purpose of the Fair is teaching and learning with all the vendors willing and able to advise and instruct.

Well, I dont know about a lodge but there were some tents on the hill this year and they had some blankets with trade goods on them as well. Dont know the requiremetns though.

They're only a phone call away!

Just keep in mind that the event is held on the last weekend in July...two years ago my son and I got soaked to the bone in a monsoon of a summer storm, with several inches of rain falling per hour. The event is held on a hillside and rain flows downhill :surrender: .

This year's event was dry. Didn't see anybody but a couple of vendors' camps--including the chuckwagon guy doing cast-iron baking over an open fire. Great pie & coblers, worth standing in line for

Hope this helps.

Dave

Sorry to say but Chuck Dixon doesn't let anyone actually camp on the site. Not really sure of his reasons but after working the event for several years now I know he has a reason for everything. The camps on the hill are mostly for display with a few venders tossed in. If ya have a van or pickup ya could sleep in, maybe, if ya gave them a call n see if ya could get permisson to sleep in the parking lot. Its worth a try anyway.
