I've got myself talked into taking a drive out to Dixon's while I'm on vacation the week of July 4. I know that's to early for the gunmakers fair, but, I'd just like to visit the store. Just wondering of what those of you that have been there thought about the selection, quality, and pricing of finished flinters available. I'm interested in either an American fowler, or smoothbore rifle.

Chuck always has a selection of consignment guns on hand. Plus enough parts to build most styles of longrifles. I have never seen a better stocked shop for gunbuilders or b-p shooters. BJH

By far an excellent place to shop. To bad you can't make the gun builders fair. That is the ultimate experience.

If you happen to catch him when he's not too busy, he'll gladly answer any questions you may have. Just know their store is not open on Wednesdays.
What do I think of the place? Walking in there as a black powder enthusiast is akin to walking into Lowe's or Home Depot as a home improvement nut! Enjoy!

Thanks for the comments. I'm looking forward to going, and I'll definitely contact him ahead of time to be sure of hours, etc. Wouldn't be suprised if I find something I just can't bear to come home without.

I'm going to be visiting family in central NY the last week in July and was thinking of stopping by the Gunmakers Fair on the way home to Alabama. What's it like and how much time do I need to set aside for a visit?

Thanks for the tip Old Salt. The fair looks like a lot of fun and good eats too. I'm not going to be in any hurry to get home, so I'll certainly stop by.

Thanks Old Salt, I guess I'll try to allow enough time to spend most of Saturday there. Sounds like a BP candy store. Maybe I better leave the cash in the car.

You might call Chuck Dixon before going to inquire about his selection of consignment guns, but don't let that stop you from paying a visit. I promise you that you won;t leave without buying something as his selection of ML items is unsurpassed here on the east coast. Might also consider stopping at the Krumsville Inn for a bite and a cold one after visiting Dixon's. It's right up the road. I have no connection with the place, but I make it a point to stop in when I make my monthly pilgrimage to Dixon's.

Don't forget about Cabela's It's also worth a stop if your passing through. It's right on I78 about 15mins west of Dixon's. Just don't go to Dixon's on a Wednesday He's closed, Yes I did go there a few times to make shore he's closed  and it's closed.

Did that last year on a Wednesday. Took the wife to Leesport Flea/Farmer's mkt to buy some plants and to look at other people's junk, knowing I get to go to Dixon's later :master:. It was closed....
