I'm interested in using this gun for waterfowl and have read that plastic shot cups are recommended when using steel shot to protect the barrels, but I can't find any mention of using standard BB gun BBs for waterfowl. I already have the BBs, so I thought why not try, but I don't want to learn by damaging my barrels. Since these BB s are copper or brass coated, do I still need to use a shot cup to protect the barrels?

People have been ruining shotgun barrels with airgun BB's ever since steel shot became mandatory. Even using steel shot wads its not recommended.

In general, BBs are so hard that they are not recommended for ML shotguns. I had a 12ga Pedersoli dbl I wondered about. I contacted Pedersoli with this question and was informed that if the barrels had chrome bores that BBs were okay to use. Mine did have chromed bores. Regardless of this information I received from Pedersoli, I still didn't feel safe using BB shot unless it was in a plastic shot cup. Better safe than sorry.

Shot bb's or air gun bb's?
