For a Small Target?

I seen a Big buck twice today, this evening I seen him he was on the neighbors,I left an opening in the Fence so Deer could get over to me.Well that Buck just went bedded down. This little Button came up there. It was getting dark so I took him.

While I was Field Dressing this one the Big buck came up to the opening started Snorting at me.

Well got 5 more Tags to fill.

I'd take five of those any day over one big one. Horns are nice, but you can get kinda hungry lookin at them hanging on the wall with nothing in the freezer.

My day (Musketpappy) always said: "The older the buck, the stiffer the horn!"

Suppose he was talking anout how much more tender a young deer is compaired to a mature buck in it's prime? :haha:

Oneshot,

I'm with Brownbear and Musketman on this one. If I'm hunting for meat, I'll take a young buck or a doe over a mature buck any day and I would much rather take a young doe. Besides, they are much easier to drag out of the woods!
:)

I have yet to take a deer with a big rack, and I've been hunting for almost 30 years, so I do understand where you're coming from. I would love to have a wall-hanger! Although, it would have to hang in a guest room or in the garage because my wife doesn't want the "reminder of the murder of an innocent animal" hanging in the house.  She's from New York City - Manhattan to be exact.

Congratulations Oneshot. You got some fine eating there, and those other bigger deer are still out there for another says hunt....

My wife's from Long Island and for much of our married life would never eat venison, after thirty years of marriage now she has developed a taste for it. We had two deer in the freezer last season and now the freezer is empty. She's putting the pressure on me now! And hang in there your NY lady may come around in time. Mine even helps me drag the deer out! ::

Congrats on your deer!
:applause:

GregK,
I have made a little "progress" with her. :haha: When we first met, she was deathly afraid of guns. Now, she actually enjoys target shooting with my .22 rifle. She's pretty good too!

I can't imagine her dragging a dear out, though. That is a funny thought! :haha:
