Bore Butter has a pine scented one but it smells like a pine tree with ben gay on it. got the possible bag loaded and the powderhorn full of good old 3fg. Oh and one patch and ball as one shot is all I need :bull:

Don't worry about the smell of bore butter...deer numbering at least in the 10's of thousands have been taken using it

anyone make a scentless oil thats non petro?

Stumpy's Moose Milk
A general purpose blackpowder solvent and liquid patch lube. Shake well before using

Castor Oil 3 oz.
Murphy's Oil Soap 1 oz.
Witch Hazel 4 oz.
Isopropyl Alcohol (91%) 8 oz.
Water (non-chlorinated) 16 oz.

Note that castor oil is not water soluable, but it is alcohol soluable, and this castor cocktail is in turn water soluable. The above makes a non-petroleum based water soluable "dry" lube when the soaked cotton strips are allowed to air-dry for a couple days.

This one has an alcohol smell but it passes when dry.


Stumpy's Moose Snot
2 oz Beeswax
8 oz Castor Oil
1 oz Murphy's Oil Soap

Bring wax to melting in double boiler and add oils. Once off the heat, whip up with a spoon to frothy consistancy and pour into tin containers (like Altoids or Sucrets boxes).

This one is a solid lube and doesn't have much odor at all.

where i work at wal-mart they have a gun cleaning kit thats odorless so that your gun don't smell like a gun....don't know if it's non petro thou....but i have always been hunting with the gun smelling like a gun and still seen and shot deer......................bob
