Had the chance to take one of my brothers in law and his 1st Cousin out to shoot. Both under 18. Generationally we are in a weird place where I am between an older brother and a younger uncle.

The boys were excited to shoot my modern guns before the trip. They shot all sorts of semi-auto army guns like ARs, G3s, FALs, etc.. But the biggest smiles of the day were ringing steel plates at 100-300yds with Civil War rifle muskets and playing cowboy with some Colt revolvers and a course with silhouette targets.

Kids can love BP shooting. But we need to propagate disciplines attractive to younger shooters, especially dynamic action shooting.

When it gets a bit warmer here, I am going to invite my best friends grandsons to shoot my flintlocks. I bet they will like it better than them staring at their cell phones all day. I just hope they don't text each other how much fun it is while still at the range!
