In South Africa we have big licencing challenges. But as you know Muzzleloaders are off-ticket. We sometimes need a quick second shot. Like snakes on the farm or just to have fun on tins. So we asked Pedersoli to make us a Double Barrel pistol. This is the result. :applause:

:v My sentiments exactly, that would be very comforting to have around when camping, kinda handy to keep nearby at night. Like chili it's comfort food for thought---snakes, and other pesky critters that go bump and scratch in the night--if you don't have to use it---IT'S THERE!!!

While the Ped is better made and great to look at I got the one from MVT so far its shot 2 - .600 balls out of one barrel (at once) and a mess of other loads out of it,10#4 buck with 20 steal BB's and a shakeing of of 8 shot to fill the gaps.. :shake: I think I trust it now, and its 300 something less, looks real good BUT cant come close to looks of the Ped! Fred :hatsoff:

Thank you for a peak at something that's really usefull. I'm glad it's a ML, otherwise the BATFE might consider it to be a sawed-off shotgun! If they do, we'll never get to see one in the States! What's up with the two sets of barrels? Is one a scattergun and the other rifled?

Good luck with it and let us know how it shoots.

Dave

Pedersoli makes it in .50/.50, 20Ga/20Ga and .50/20Ga. The .50 is rifled with a fast twist. I shot it with a 360gr conical and it stabilized. Double .50 is quite heavy but the double .20ga is well balanced. The 20ga shoots very well with a patched ball at close range. It will cost a few dollars less than a Pedersoli shotgun. It should be on your shores soon.
Here is pic where I loaded it very high (won't mention the load) just to test it. Felt like a slow .44 Magnum

Well, that was one off the reasons behind it too -Pesky Critters. Pedersoli calls it the Howdah pistol. I asked Pierangelo Pedersoli to make it in .58 as well (like a true Howdah) but that is not on the papers at the moment.

Man I like that. Smoothbore is it? Give some details please and price. :hmm:
It will be pricey. Two barrels, two locks, two locks, etc. But in our situation it with very poisonous snakes and bad critters it is a lifesaver. It is close to impossible to get a new handgun license. The .50 is rifled.

Alright Christiaan, glad to see you also joined us here. The last time I visited Christiaan at his shop I held this pistol whilst it had its two 20ga barrels fitted and although heavy it is like he mentioned, very well balanced. And believe me its BIG!

And believe me its BIG!

It is big - and heavy. I could take it in my hands and have a look at it when I visited the company last year.

Very friendly people at pedersoli. I wasn´t far away on holiday and so we drove there, rang on the door and then they showed us the whole company.
One of the highlights for me was this pistol. They showed it to me, the simple tourist. At that time there had been no press releases or anything like that so far about this gun.
That´s absolutely customer-friendly. Very impressing experience for me.

Greetings from bavaria :hatsoff:

Very cool! Glad you can at least have those!

The cap and ball revolvers are restricted right? Too bad that. :(

A couple of paper cartridges would be handy to keep with it though for fast reloads.

Thanks for posting the pics

Just for comparing..my MVT is about 2.8 lb's, 9 +1/4" barrels and in 20/62 it got up about like yours with 2 600 balls and 50grs 2F. I took a shoot at a "Mr No Shoulders" watewrmoch at about 15 feet with "about 100" and not aiming (holding with both hands - the 2 ball stunt even with both hands got the forward one burned just a little BUT if I'd been holding any loser I might of lost some fingers, hard to remember these arent toys even at my age) any way it was like full choked tore a big hole in the ground about a foot away from snake and stuned him, how long is your barrel and hows the spread up close like say "snake range" (will try to get my pics up this week end.) Watch them snakes as I remember the short time I was around that part of the world ya got some BAD BOY's!! :shake: Best of luck FRED :hatsoff:

It looks like a bigger and prettier version of the little Corsair double .44 that I've had for decades. I've always had a soft spot for doubles and I'm especially glad to see that Pedersoli is making one! Now to start saving my pennies.

That 'little' girl seems mitey 'big' to me with that doble in her hand! :hmm: :surrender:

Happy Howdah rides again! Where's my elephant, where's them tigers? Here kitty, kitty!! :rotf:
