I have a pistol kit that requires I drill an undersized hole in the barrel for the front sight. The shaft on brass front sight is 7/64's. Should I drill a 6/64? Is that undersized enough to hold the sight firmly after it is tapped into place? Don't want to go to big.

from a drill chart, looks like a #36 is close if you are wanting to swage it in?
use a 7/64 and red loc-tite and I think you'd be fine?? or the 7/64 and soft solder. ( as most drill bits drill a bit oversize for one reason or another )
