He advocates using a 'dry lube patch' of some sort and dry patch wipe after every shot. I checked his link but can't remember where I came across it.
Best I recollect 'ballistol' is a component of his patch 'soak and dry' method. I've got lot's of Lee lube that I'm gonna try soaking and drying some patches with for experimentation sake.
I always dry patch between shots with PRB anyway, but have read that R.E.A.L. slugs are self-cleaning and accurate as well so I'm gonna get a mould if favorable feed back comes in.

snake, dutch schoultz discovered this method through trial and error. by maintaining consistency shot to shot and eliminating the variables in loading. ie, weighing balls to eliminate flyers. correct patch thickness for your rifle, and yes the dry patch lube system. it works! chopper

thank you , that was the one on here back a few months ago dad ask about , it had a write up in M B a few years ago he said. blaine

Dutch's methods work, and his materials that tell you how to go about working up an accurate load for your gun work, too. Dutch did learn all this through much trial and error, and years of working on the issues, one at a time. You can also e-mail him directly if you have a question, or call him at the phone number given on his materials. At $15.00, I consider it a very good investment, and encourage all the readers here to acquire the information. He also provides a practice target to use, that you can take to a Xerox company and make as many copies as you like.

I allmost sent for it once but decided not to. I would say it is one of the best kept muzzleloading secrets out there. Unless you have 15.00 that is. flinch

If you're at all interested, I wouldn't dally. Dutch is getting up there, can hardly see any more... now he's talking about giving up on selling his system.

And he needs the money :)

He just applied common sense and logic to the problem of getting black powder guns to shoot well, and developed a good system. No rocket science, but it's an area where it's easy to go astray, and if you follow his system, you'll have something that works, and then you can stray.

I just like what he did.

And yes, anyone can photocopy his stuff or scan it and spread it around, but that's just plain theft. If it was something GE was putting out, no big deal, but this is one definitely not wealthy individual.

Send Dutch the $15.00 if you are seriously interested in becoming an expert marksman.

And Idaho PRB, I guess you were just kidding about sending you the $15.00. I hope so,anyhow, because that's Dutch's domain, and there is no one this side of Ned Roberts who has done more for black powder accuracy than Dutch :hatsoff:.

All serious chunkgun competition shooters use Dutch's method. I've used it for years even in a hunting scenario because it is sooooo accurate!

Just so you know, I was kidding. Thus the " :winking: ". I,too started using the Dutch method and acheived great accuracy. I have spoken with Dutch several times on the phone and we have exchanged emails while I was trying to completely understand how to use his system. I believe that there is no comparison to the accuracy achieved by his dry patch method. I just wanted something that was a little easier to load, for hunting purposes (greasier) and suppose I use his system as the benchmark for all others to compare to. I'm pretty sure that without Green Mountain Barrels and Dutch Schoultz I wouldn't be a Blackpowder shooter today. He's a great guy to talk to as well and if it weren't for an eye surgery gone bad (from what I understand) he would probably still be shooting some, although he said he gets more from helping others acheive accuracy than he does shooting.
