Eagle View’s breeches waist size

For anyone that has made these before. What waist size did you use? Your normal pants waist size or did you use your measured waist size. If you used your measured waist size, where at on the waist did you measure? The high waist band has got me wondering.

I also found a webpage that said “The Eagle's View Breeches Pattern is made in the crotch to fit a woman, not a man.” It then gives notes to make it a fit better. Anyone else run into this problem when making these breeches.

It's been awhile since I tried to make breeches but if I remember I used my current pant size for the pattern. The crotch is what it is, I don't think it is gender specific. It's just the style of the cut.
