Since I came across a few old bags of 'chilled shot' for free I'm using them of course but after a range trip patterning various loads, there is some lead film left in the bore, which can require some time and elbow grease to remove.

Tried an idea this morning that I thought of as a 'take off' on the "Lew's Lead Out" product.
Lew's Lead Out is nothing more than a round patch of bronze screen material pulled through the bore and the weave of the bronze screen "catches and pulls" the lead off the bore walls.

So when I finished the patterning session this morning, I seated and fired a couple of tight fitting patched balls, and the tight fitting cloth patch material scrubbed the lead fouling right off the bore.

Well that sounds like a heck of a lot more fun than running a bunch of patches down the bore to get the last bits of lead out. I wonder what would happen if you used steel wool for the patching?

When I was in the Army, they told me If I didn't get the lead out, I would go on KP........Worked for me  Now I just use good old Kroil oil and a hard patch.
